Tech Valley Blog Celebration Giveaway

blogherGot a mom blog? If so, you are in good company.

The number of mommy blogs  in the U.S. is already nearing 4 million, and eMarketer predicts that it will hit 4.4 million by 2014. The number of bloggers is rising, as is the number of readers. Consider that only 13% of these moms write primarily about parenting (Technorati), and add in the staggering statistic that 67.5 million women are online using social media weekly (or more) and you begin to get a sense of the influence and power of mom bloggers. (BlogHer)

Bloggers, and especially (but not only) mothers of young children, are turning online to connect and to get advice on everything and anything.

Mom bloggers are finding parenting advice, but also: friendships, review products, income, brand sponsorships, networking opportunities, and even jobs and career advancement. And it’s not just mom bloggers, the blogging ranks includes young and old, parents and non-parents.

Tech Valley bloggers are beginning to reap the rewards of this emerging social media landscape, but there is so much more that we can accomplish when we network locally.

Here at Kids Fun Plaza, we are committed to working with Tech Valley Bloggers (not just parents!) to share best practices in social media so that we all can reap the benefits of collaboration.

To celebrate the formal introduction of Kids Fun Plaza in New York’s Tech Valley, we invite you to join us at the Tech Valley Blogger Tweetup on April 16th, 6 p.m. – 7 p.m., at Colonie Center where we will announce the winners of the Tech Valley Blog Contest.

  • I would love to learn more about monetizing a blog and what a potential advertiser is expecting to pay, how they are measuring success, etc. I’m also interested in time management and how to juggle Facebook, Twitter, and other social media. What are some tools that make it more streamlined? I could use help in all areas, so I’m very eager for the TV Blogger Tweetup!

  • Oh, and I’ve registered for the event, linked my blog up, am blogging about the event at MaltaMama on 3/31, and have commented about my social media questions. Am I desperate for an iPad? Pretty much. Thanks for the chance!

  • I registered (and attended) the Tweetup. I’ve also linky-ed up and blogged about both events ( http://www.techydad.com/2011/04/kids-fun-summer-expo-and-tech-valley-blogger-tweetup/ ).

As for questions, my social media question would be: For someone with a day job, limited time to devote to social media and a blog/Twitter presence, is adding a Facebook presence worth the added time required to do it properly?

  • I would love to learn more about earning money through blogging, BUT don’t want to detract from my main goal of just raising awareness about stuttering, a very mis-understood communication disorder, which affects 3 million Americans. Kids who stutter are teased and bullied, and parents of kids who stutter often feel helpless and overwhelmed. Adults who stutter are often subjected to workplace discrimination because the general public thinks were are emotionally or intellectually deficient.
Sure, I want to earn some money, but don’t want my site full of ads.
I am registered for the tweetup tonight, but did not see this link until today, so too late for the contest, which I “dislike” because i covet an IPad2. I did link my blog to The Tech Valley Bloggers site and look forward to networking with local bloggers!
And maybe helping anyone who feels overwhelmed or isolated with stuttering!

  • In it something is also idea good,

    agree with you.
