Valentine’s Day on a Budget

This year may be especially hard for some to find extra money to spend on their Valentine. The economy is affecting every area of life, so it makes sense it would infringe on a person pulling off a fancy romantic evening.

I may be a grandma, but… I know how to get my romance on and do it on a budget!

Number one…
You can stick to an old faithful; the candlelight dinner. It doesn’t matter what is on the menu; the dim light, the conversation, and the fact you went out of your way to make the night special will set the romantic mood.

Number two…
Another idea is you can make up romantic coupons and place them around the house where you know your partner will find them when it’s least expected. (I know this may be a popular one, but it just never gets old.) To figure out what to offer on the coupons just think about what your partner does throughout their day. Vacuuming, washing the dishes, taking out the garbage for a week, mowing the lawn 2 times this summer, giving a 30 minute back rub, rubbing their feet, or anything that would be a treat is good. Your Valentine will love collecting on the coupons.

Number three…
Breakfast in bed is a great way to start your Valentine’s day off; but even your Valentine waking up to the smell of their favorite breakfast cooking is a great way to start their day off too.

Number four…
Make it an inexpensive date night. Get grandma and grandpa involved; they love their grand kids. I bet they’ll even take them overnight for you so you can make a night of it.

I could go on and list tons of ideas, but if you give it a little thought I’m sure you can think of a way to make this Valentine’s Day special for the one you love. Get creative; what’s their favorite thing to do? Where’s their favorite place to go? Where was your first kiss? Where was your first date? Where was your honeymoon? Can’t go to Paris or Honolulu? Recreate. Recreate. Recreate.

What are you plans this year?
